DISSEMINATING OBSCURE PLACES: NYC SIDEWALK MAGNETS
HEIDI NEILSON

Photographs of anonymous New York City sidewalks are affixed to approximately 100 magnets and placed (on metal surfaces) in small groups on the sidewalks of Frankfurt. Passersby are welcome and encouraged to notice, move around and relocate these magnets throughout the city (even to their refrigerators). Thus these specific yet often overlooked details of New York's urban landscape texture (sidewalk patterns, cracks, stains, etc.) spread and commingle with the perhaps equally rich and obscure surface details of Frankfurt.

HOW TO LOCATE

These NYC Sidewalk Magnets are initially located on metallic surfaces in the public space near the FREE MANIFESTA office (outside and perhaps inside). People may relocate these magnetic images throughout Frankfurt wherever they see fit.
