In the audio clips, the foreigner's voice articulates fragments of her experience in Canada as an outsider, and rehearses foreign languages pronunciations in order to master them. However, the background music points to ethnic segregation in her country of origin - Spain - throughout history, with the inclusion of flamenco sounds (inherited from the Gypsies, originally from India), as well as Sephardic cantos . . .

En los audio clips, mientras la voz de la inmigrada articula fragmentos de su experiencia en Canadá como habitante foránea, y ensaya la pronunciación de lenguas extranjeras para dominarlas, la música de fondo nos habla de la segregación étnica que tiene lugar en su país de origen - España, a través de la historia, al incluir sonidos flamencos (heredados en parte de los gitanos, procedentes de India), y sefarditas . . .

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Guerrera del Interfaz was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1962. She now lives in a safe limbo between the virtual reality of her own life and the imagined narratives of the minds of those whom she loves.

She is currently finishing her Ph.D. in the department of history of art at the University of Toronto, and she investigates emotions, intimacy, and subjectivity in relation to net.art.


Guerrera del Interfaz nació en Valencia, España, en 1962. Ahora vive en un limbo tranquilo entre la realidad virtual de su propia vida y las narrativas imaginadas de las mentes de aquellos a quien ama.

Actualmente termina su doctorado en el departamento de historia del arte de la Universidad de Toronto e investiga las emociones, la intimidad y la subjetividad en relación al net.art.
